The Kan Do Creators Community [KDCC] Code of Ethics
This is how The Kan Do Creators Community operates, written down so you can hold us to it. What a sponsor is buying and what they are not. What a paying member is owed. How we use AI, what we do with your data, and what happens when we get something wrong. We serve creators at every level, from people who have not uploaded a first video to channels already earning real income, and this page applies the same way to all of them. This page is what we promise you. Our Rules page (https://kdcc.social/pages/rules) is what we ask of you, in our Discord and in paid membership.
TL;DR
We disclose every paid, affiliated, or gifted relationship, every time. We join affiliate programs for tools we already use, but we do not take affiliate-only sponsorship deals. Sponsors buy placement, not editorial approval, and we will publish a criticism of a product we are being paid to feature. We use AI as a production tool and never as a substitute for the person you came here for. We do not promise views, subscribers, or income, because nobody honestly can. We publish our refund policy in plain language, including the places where our own store's fine print disagrees with us.
Everything below is the detail behind those six sentences.
Part One: Sponsorship, Money, and Disclosure
1. Transparency First
We clearly disclose when a product, service, or tool is sponsored, affiliated, or monetized. This includes:
- Paid partnerships and brand deals
- Affiliate links or product placements
- Early access to software or gear provided for free
We never publish hidden promotions or blur the line between opinion and payment. We join affiliate programs for tools we already use and would recommend anyway, and those links are always labeled. What we do not accept is an affiliate-only deal, where a brand wants a sponsored video, a feature, or an endorsement and offers only commission in return. That kind of work is paid. If we helped build something, advise on it, or hold any stake in it, we will tell you.
How we disclose. Sponsored videos carry a spoken disclosure and an on-screen disclosure at the start, not only a line buried in the description. Written sponsorships are labeled at the top of the piece, before the content begins.
Affiliate links. Commission never changes what we recommend or the order we recommend it in. If a tool we earn from stops being the one we would suggest, we change the recommendation and remove the link, even when it costs us money.
Reviews are not sponsored. A brand can pay for an integration, a tutorial, a livestream, a newsletter feature, or a first impressions video. A brand cannot pay for a review. Early in Andrew Kan's career, before The Kan Do Creators Community existed, a small number of reviews were paid. We changed that, and we are telling you here rather than hoping nobody looks.
Travel and lodging. We usually pay our own way to events. When a brand covers travel or lodging so we can attend, we disclose it in the coverage, and what it buys is attendance rather than approval. What we cover and how we cover it stays our call. If a brand wants guaranteed coverage of an event, that is a paid event coverage package and it is disclosed as sponsored.
2. Editorial Independence
Sponsors buy placement, not approval. A partner can review a piece for factual accuracy about their own product, and we will fix anything we got wrong. What a partner cannot do is change our opinion, remove a criticism, or hold payment over an edit.
The line runs differently depending on the format. On a dedicated sponsored piece, a partner may check the facts about their own product, meaning specs, pricing, feature names, and availability. On an integrated segment inside one of our own videos, the partner sees the segment and nothing else, so they do not see the script or the topic of the video it sits inside, and they do not approve it.
If we find a real problem with a product mid-campaign, we say so in the content. If a partner is not willing to work that way, we would rather not run the campaign at all.
We also will not run a campaign for a direct competitor of a current partner at the same time. Any category exclusivity is agreed in writing before work begins, and the specific competing brands are named so neither side is guessing.
3. Gifted Products and Review Units
We disclose free products, review units, and complimentary software access every time. We do not accept payment in product alone in place of a fee for sponsored work.
Being sent something does not buy coverage. Most items we are sent never appear in anything we publish, and receiving a product never guarantees a positive opinion, or any opinion at all.
4. For Our Partners
If you are a brand, sponsor, or collaborator, this is what you can expect when working with The KDCC:
- Honest feedback and clear communication
- A community-first mindset
- Transparent goals and outcomes
- No inflated metrics or false promises
We do not work with companies that:
- Want sponsored work paid only in affiliate commission
- Use manipulative marketing or deceptive funnels
- Exploit user data without consent
- Sell speculative crypto, NFT, or "guaranteed" growth products
- Are not LGBTQIA+ friendly
- Use AI to replace human creativity in unethical ways
If your values align with ours, let's build something useful together.
Our team. Everyone acting on behalf of The Kan Do Creators Community follows this code, including contractors and moderators. Our team members are creators in their own right and are free to take on work outside The KDCC. That work is their own, it does not represent The KDCC, and we are not responsible for it. This code covers what is done in our name.
5. How We Handle Your Money
KDCC membership is monthly or annual, and you can cancel any time from the Billing page in your account. There is no long-term contract and no cancellation fee, and your access runs to the end of the billing period you have already paid for.
KDCC Membership starts with a 7 day free trial and you are not billed until it ends, so if you cancel during the trial you are never charged at all. After that, you can get a full refund within 30 days of your first payment, no questions asked.
1:1 consulting with Andrew Kan works differently, and we would rather say so plainly than bury it. You can request a full refund within 30 days of purchase as long as the work has not started. Once it has, including a session you booked and did not attend, the sale is final, because that time was held for you and nobody else. Refunds are full or none. If something has gone wrong, talk to us before opening a chargeback and we will sort it out.
Payments are handled by Stripe and by Fourthwall, and we never see or store your card details. Once a refund is approved it goes back to your original payment method: consulting runs through Stripe and takes 5 to 10 business days, while membership and merch run through Fourthwall, which is 7 to 10 business days on a card and around 24 business hours on PayPal. That last stretch is your bank rather than us, and we will tell you the day we send it.
One conflict we would rather name than let you find. Our store pages, including the Returns and FAQ and the Terms of Service, are generated by Fourthwall and we cannot edit a word of them. Both treat memberships as non-refundable, because that is Fourthwall's platform-wide default rather than a decision we made. Our policy is the more generous one, meaning a 7-day free trial and a full refund inside the first 30 days if you ask for it. Where those pages disagree with this one, this is the version we honor, and you should hold us to it. Consulting sits outside the Fourthwall store entirely and is paid through Stripe, so the terms that govern it are the ones published on the consulting page.
Two limits from those pages are real rather than default, and we do follow them. Merch is made to order, so returns cover print errors and quality issues rather than a change of mind or a sizing regret. Donations and tips cannot be refunded once checkout completes.
No dark patterns. Cancelling takes the same route as joining, through your account, and we do not hide the button, run a retention interview, or make you email a person to leave.
When prices change. When we raise a price, we announce it ahead of time and email paying members before it takes effect. The announcement says how the change affects current members. If you keep an older price, it lasts only while your membership stays active. The full details are on our Rules page (https://kdcc.social/pages/rules).
If a payment doesn't go through. Fourthwall usually cancels a membership right away when a payment fails. The first time it happens, contact us within 7 days and we'll help restore it, including any locked price. That fix is available once per member.
If you go quiet. If a paid member goes 60 days without showing up, we reach out to help. If we still don't hear back after 14 days, we may end the membership and refund the time they haven't used. That's our choice, not a refund you can request. Details are on our Rules page.
Part Two: What We Promise, and What We Do Not
6. Results and Realistic Expectations
We do not guarantee results, and we will not pretend the outcome sits in our hands.
Growth on YouTube depends on your niche, your timing, your consistency, and the work you do between sessions. We can tell you what is holding a channel back and what we would fix first, but we cannot make you upload, and we cannot make an audience appear.
When we share a member's numbers, we share them with that member's permission and we name them, so you can go and look at the channel yourself. Those are examples of what has happened for specific people, not an average and not a forecast. Some members move quickly, some slowly, and some do not move at all, usually because the plan never turned into published videos.
Anyone who promises you a subscriber count is guessing. That includes us, which is why we do not do it.
7. No Gimmicks, No Fake Scarcity
We avoid gimmicks, invented urgency, and manipulative funnels. If a product or a strategy only works while it is hiding something, it does not belong here.
About our seat counts. Some of our pages show limited spots. KDCC Membership is capped at 75 members, consulting retainers are capped at 5 active clients, and Channel Audits are capped at 4 a month. The seat counts on our site are real numbers. Those caps are real limits on the time we have, and they exist so that the people who pay get actual attention rather than a seat in a crowd. They are not countdown timers, we do not run expiring discounts or invented deadlines, and when something is full we say it is full rather than manufacturing a last-chance offer. About price changes. Raising a price is not a sale. When we change a price, we set a real date, tell you ahead of time, and don’t move the date.
8. Accuracy and Corrections
We do not promise virality, and we do not chase trends at the cost of truth. Our goal is to share what works, why it works, and when it does not.
- If we get something wrong, we own it and correct it publicly
- If a tool changes or underperforms, we update our recommendations
- If a partner behaves unethically, we will reevaluate that relationship and speak up when needed
We would rather be clear than clever.
Corrections appear where the error did, which means a pinned comment and an updated description on a video, an updated note on the post on The KDCC Blog, and a mention in the next issue of The KDCC Newsletter if the error reached that far.
Part Three: Our Community
9. Respect, Moderation, and Appeals
We are building a space where creators can grow without fear of judgment, gatekeeping, or discrimination.
- No harassment, hate speech, or exclusion
- No toxic behavior or intimidation
- Welcoming of creators from all backgrounds, skill levels, and identities
We actively moderate our Discord, livestreams, comment sections, and partner platforms to keep the space safe and inclusive.
How moderation works. We use a three strike system. Where we can, a warning comes first and we tell you which rule was broken rather than removing you silently. Serious violations and repeat offenders skip the strikes, so harassment, hate speech, threats, doxxing, spam or scam links, and posting private calls are removed immediately
Appeals. If you think we got a call wrong, appeal within 14 days through #support in our Discord or our contact page. Where possible a different person than the one who made the decision reviews it, and we respond within five business days. After an appeal, the decision stands.
In our Discord. Our Rules page (https://kdcc.social/pages/rules) uses this same system. The same rules are posted in our Discord and our private member Discord.
10. Privacy, Consent, and Your Data
Your story belongs to you. We encourage creators to share and grow together, and we take consent seriously while they do.
- We do not share private messages, emails, project files, or internal conversations without clear permission, unless required by law or covered by a prior agreement
- We anonymize case studies unless the creator has agreed to be named
- We ask before quoting, recording, or featuring community content in public spaces
- We follow data protection laws including the CCPA and GDPR where applicable, and our Privacy Policy sets out what we collect on our website. Our Rules page covers Discord logs and call recordings
If we need to use or reference your content more broadly, we will ask first or make sure it falls within terms you already agreed to.
Recordings. Live coaching calls are recorded for the member replay library, and we say so when you join and at the start of each call. You can keep your camera off, use the chat, or ask us to cut your part within 7 days. We don't post call recordings anywhere public without asking first.
What does get shared, and how to stop it. Like most sites, we run analytics and advertising tools, and our Privacy Policy discloses that this counts as a sale or a share of personal information under California law. What moves is identifiers, device and browsing data, and purchase history going to analytics and advertising providers. It is not your Discord messages, your coaching submissions, your review requests, or anything you sent us privately. You can opt out by emailing support@kdcc.social, and we honor Global Privacy Control signals automatically, so if your browser sends one we act on it without you having to ask.
Age. Paid membership in The KDCC and 1:1 consulting with Andrew Kan are for people aged 18 and over. Our Terms of Service are generated by Fourthwall and set 13 as the floor for using the site at all, and ours is the higher bar for anything paid. Beyond that we follow the age rules and data protection laws of every platform we operate on, including Discord and YouTube, and we update our practice as those rules change. Parents and guardians can contact us at any time to ask what we hold about a young person, or to have it removed.
If your data is ever exposed. If we suffer a breach affecting your personal information, we will tell the people affected directly rather than waiting to be asked, and we will say what was exposed, what we know about how it happened, and what we are doing about it, including the parts that are embarrassing for us.
11. Credit and Collaboration
We build with our community, not on top of it.
- We do not take ideas, scripts, or strategies and pass them off as ours
- We credit community members, collaborators, and the tools that shape our work
- We never turn DMs, private member Discord posts, or anything you sent us privately into content without consent. Posts in our public Discord follow our Rules page
When a community insight, question, or shared win helps shape something we publish, we credit the person by name with their permission, or we link directly to their work. If someone helps us improve, we say thank you, clearly and publicly.
12. Use of Likeness and Identity
The name, voice, image, and likeness of Andrew Kan, Ike Do, or any member of The KDCC team may not be used in marketing, promotions, thumbnails, AI-generated content, or derivative work without prior written approval.
- Any approved use must clearly state the purpose, platform, and duration of use
- Time-limited permissions will be enforced, and continued use beyond that scope requires renewed consent
- This applies to sponsors, partners, and community members
We reserve the right to revoke permission if the use becomes misleading or misaligned with our values.
13. Creator Wellness
We do not encourage burnout, hustle culture, or toxic productivity. We believe in sustainable growth, breaks when you need them, and supporting creators through the highs and the lows of the process. Growth should not come at the cost of your well-being.
14. Accessibility
Our videos carry captions, and we do not rely on auto-generated captions alone where accuracy matters. We describe what is on screen when the visual carries information the audio does not. If something we publish is not accessible to you, tell us and we will fix it.
Part Four: AI and the Tools We Use
15. How We Use AI
In our own production. We use AI tools where they genuinely help, including editing, transcription, layout, and scripting. Everything AI touches is reviewed, rewritten, or refined by a person before it reaches you, because we do not outsource quality or responsibility to automation.
When we label it. We label AI use when the AI shaped what you see, rather than how it was made. Transcription, captioning, cutting, and layout are production tools and we do not label every instance of them. AI-generated images, voices, or written passages that reach you substantially unedited are labeled where they appear.
Our voices and faces. We do not use AI-generated versions of Andrew Kan or Ike Do to speak, present, or write as us, so when you hear one of us, it is one of us. AI-generated images and clips do appear in our videos as examples, usually to show what a tool actually produces, and we make that clear when it is not obvious from context.
Coaching and reviews. Thumbnail feedback, title feedback, channel audits, and group coaching answers come from a person. We may use AI to pull data or check our own work, but the judgment you are paying for is human judgment.
Your work and ours. We do not sell, license, or submit community content, coaching submissions, or Discord conversations to AI companies for model training. If that ever changes, we will say so here first and give members the chance to opt out before anything moves.
In the community. Members are free to use AI in their own process. In our Discord, don't post AI written replies or feedback as if you wrote them, because people come here to talk to people. Using AI to translate, fix spelling, or help you communicate because of a disability is always fine. Don't use AI to impersonate another member or anyone on our team.
16. The Software We Recommend
As creators who depend on software, we treat it with respect. The tools we recommend or use must:
- Respect user privacy
- Be transparent about data usage and AI features
- Offer real value beyond hype
- Not be built on creator work taken without permission, and not use a creator's voice, face, or catalog without their agreement
We credit developers, cite sources, and follow licensing rules for any templates, visuals, or code we use. Good software supports creativity rather than replacing it.
Part Five: Holding Us To This
17. If Something Goes Wrong
Mistakes happen. We are not above correction, and we welcome the feedback.
If you feel we have fallen short of this code, tell us. Reach out through our contact page and choose Feedback or Suggestion as your reason for contact, so it reaches the right person rather than a general pile.
We review every message and respond within five business days.
18. Credits and References
This code was written by The KDCC team, shaped by our values and inspired by creators we trust.
- FTC Disclosures 101 for Social Media Influencers
